Welcome to Vision Photography

Vision Photography is based in the east of Pretoria, South Africa, and was established in January 2008 by photographer, Villiers Steyn. The business is run from a spacious studio and office, but Villiers travels throughout southern Africa to photograph a massive variety of events.

Meet the photographer, Villiers Steyn

Villiers Steyn was born in South Africa in 1982 and from a very young age his first passion has been wildlife. Regular travelling in southern Africa with his parents fuelled his passion for the outdoors and in 2001 he started studying Nature Conservation at the Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria.

Two years before, in high school, he became school photographer and sub-editor of the school newspaper. This gave him the opportunity to develop crucial skills needed to master his second great passion, photography! Villiers photographed every school event imaginable, from sports events to socials to prize giving ceremonies.

After he had completed his National Diploma in Nature Conservation, he embarked on a four-year leopard study in Botswana's Northern Tuli Game Reserve in partial fulfilment of his B-Tech and M-Tech degrees in Nature Conservation. It was here that Villiers spent countless days in the African bush photographing the scenery and animals that are so dear to his heart.

After completing his research in Botswana, Villiers felt the urge to start his own photography business...and Vision Photography was born. The name had been chosen years before, as Villiers believes a clear vision is the first step to achieving goals and making dreams come true!

Design skills

Villiers has always been very creative, not only in his photography, but also in terms of design. In 2008 he decided to explore the world of website designing and qualified as a certified web designer. He also designs logos, posters, brochures and pretty much anything that is done in Photoshop.

THE STUDIO

Vision Photography's studio is situated in Pretoria East, Gauteng, and has enough space to take studio photographs of individuals, couples or small families and groups. The comfortable studio is equipped with a bathroom for long shoots or when photography courses are presented here. Digital photography courses for beginners are generally presented in the studio by means of a Power Point presentation and 10 people can fit into the space easily.

The studio is also used to take marketing and stock photographs of products and concepts.
